With the launch of its first major project, the Atassi Foundation for Arts and Culture has begun to fulfill its primary objective—supporting the many diverse elements and phases of the art movement in Syria.

We are obliged to resist in our way during these fatal circumstances in Syria. This exhibition has allowed us to piece together our scattered artistic heritage and celebrate it. We firmly believe in recognizing the pioneers who lit the spark as well as those who gave rise to modernity and handed the torch over to the youth. These younger generations continue to work on and believe in the role of art in society. Together we all contribute to preserving Syria’s artistic heritage.
