Born in 1911, Rashad Mustafa spent most of his life in Damascus, where he passed away in 1995. He taught himself art and was influenced by Tawfik Tarek. In 1981, he was awarded the National Syrian Garter. He co-founded the Syrian Artists’ Association, and participated in its exhibitions starting with 1944. Many of his artworks were later featured in group exhibitions. In most of his work, Mustafa followed the traditions of realism to depict nature, portraits, and the human body.
