Born in Damascus in 1948, Nazir Ismail learned art through self-teaching. He won local, regional, and international awards, and held many solo exhibitions in Beirut, Damascus, Aleppo, Lattakia, Deraa, Amman, Dubai, Cairo, Paris, and Geneva. Some of his work was acquired by Arab museums. Ismail depicts the human face in such a manner that expresses his artistic view. The density of his style is symbolic. In his work, faces are embedded with this surrounding without burdening paintings with colour groups.
