Born in Qamishli in 1979, Azad Hami graduated from Adham Ismail Institute for Fine Arts in Damascus in 2003. He participated in several exhibitions and art events in Damascus, Aleppo and Sana’a. Azad Hami depicts roosters in the majority of his works. He focuses on the spontaneous clashes among roosters, and reflects that via a strong expressive style. He tends to highlight the emotional motions of the bird, where brush strokes reflect the direction of the motion, and colour spaces of the spread wings dominate the space till it reaches the dimensions of the canvas, as if they tend to get out of it.
